    The Lithuanian parliament has adopted legislative amendments that will enable the free economic zones (FEZ) established in Lithuania to be among the most competitive in Europe. These amendments extend the period that companies operating in Lithuania's free economic zones can enjoy a 0 percent income tax rate from 6 to 10 years, and also add a 50% corporate tax reduction (7,5 percent) for a further 6 years.

    By the end of last year, the Klaipėda Free Economic Zone had accumulated EUR 798 million in foreign direct investment (FDI), which accounted for 60.1 per cent of the total FDI in Klaipėda city, and 44.7 per cent of the total FDI in the Klaipėda region, according to data from Statistics Lithuania. In one year, the share of the investment in the FEZ in the overall city FDI portfolio increased by 3 percentage points, and by nearly 5 percentage points with respect to the regional FDI.

  • Klaipėda FEZ: the most significant free economic zone for its city in Lithuania

    By the end of 2015, Klaipėda Free Economic Zone accumulated EUR 493 million of foreign direct investment (FDI). This accounts for 57% of the total FDI of Klaipėda City Municipality. In the significance of the free economic zone to its city in terms of the FDI portfolio, Klaipėda is ahead of all the other Lithuanian free economic zones.

  • Every 20th employee in Klaipeda worked in FEZ in 2016

    In 2016 there were 119 companies operating in the Klaipeda free economic zone (Klaipeda FEZ) employing more than 4,000 specialists, of which 2,450 were working in investor-managed companies and 1,500 were employed in service or industry entities operating in the territory of the FEZ and servicing the former. Based on the data of Statistics Lithuania, this means that the FEZ provided jobs to every 20th working-age resident of Klaipeda, or every 40th resident of the Klaipeda region.
