Mineral processing plant planned at Klaipeda FEZ

09 Feb 2022

Finegri, a Maltese capital company, is planning to develop a EUR 20 million mineral processing plant with an area of 4.4 thousand square metres in the Klaipėda Free Economic Zone (FEZ). The project, which is expected to start construction later this year, includes production lines, a laboratory and 50 jobs.

The future plant will process talc, a silicate-class mineral used in cosmetics, perfumery, paper, chemicals, ceramics, and many other industrial sectors. The production processes will use a unique technology, developed in-house.

Finegri has already prepared project proposals for the plant on a 2.5 ha site in the Klaipėda FEZ at Kretainio street 15. It is expected that once the building permit has been obtained over the summer, construction will start this autumn.

According to Eimantas Kiudulas, the head of Klaipėda FEZ, Finegri’s investment will strengthen the portfolio of high value-added production in the territory.

“The company brings exceptional technology and a laboratory where new technological solutions will be improved and developed. All this is in line with our strategic objectives – higher added value and better-paid jobs. Furthermore, it is gratifying that the investor is coming with clean, environmentally friendly technology, further strengthening our aspirations for a harmonious neighbourhood and sustainable production,” commented Mr Kiudulas.

The Finegri project will be the first mineral processing plant in the Klaipėda FEZ. Currently, more than 45 investment projects have been implemented in the Klaipėda FEZ – mostly in the fields of polymers (PET), industrial equipment, alternative energy, electrical components, the food industry and others.
