Norwegian corporation Hugaasgruppen invests 35 mln LTL into Klaipėda FEZ

Norwegian industrial group Hugaasgruppen is investing LTL 35 million in Klaipėda free economic zone. An industrial facility is already being designed in the seaport to house metal constructions working and production. Business launch in the free economic zone is planned for 2015. The Norwegians are planning to employ 120 qualified metalworking specialists in Klaipėda.

Hugaasgruppen is currently developing its activities in Gargždai. The main activity field of the company operating in Gargždai is production of advanced metal constructions and mechanical metalworking. The company produces and constructs industrial, logistics, agriculture, sports and renewable energy buildings to customers in Norway.

“We have a constant flow of orders coming from Scandinavia, therefore we decided to invest into our own plant”, said Chairman of the Board of Hugaasgruppen Roar Aarhaug. “Klaipėda FEZ is an excellent choice for that purpose because of its convenient geographical location in terms of logistics, favourable business development conditions and possibility of employing qualified staff in Klaipėda region”.

It is planned that in the new production facility in Klaipėda free economic zone Hugaasgruppen will have the state-of-the-art production equipment. Recently, the company has introduced in its operations ISO 9001 international standard in order to ensure high quality of its products.

“It is not the first Scandinavian company engaged in production which requires highly-qualified labour to realise the advantages of the FEZ territory and the quality of services available”, said Director of Klaipėda free economic zone management company Eimantas Kiudulas.

“In the nearest future, Klaipėda FEZ is hoping to attract a few more new investment projects. They are related to engineering, electronic companies willing to take advantage of excellent logistic solutions of Klaipėda seaport, land and airport based logistics opportunities in supplying products to the EU markets and looking for potential clients in CIS markets”, said Mr. Kiudulas.

Hugaasgruppen was established in year 2000 and currently owns 17 companies in Norway and Lithuania. The company has started its activity in the field of production of poultry meat. In 2004 Hugaasgruppen expanded its activities to the constructions of agricultural and industrial buildings for their own needs. Eventually company started constructing premises made of prefabricated steel structures for external clients, interested in industrial, agriculture, logistics, sports and renewable energy buildings. Logistics and warehousing, metalworking, fish and fish products processing, plastic packaging and plastic pellets (PET), electronic devices, steel constructions, architectural glass, food packaging, bio diesel, renewable energy production are carried out in Klaipėda FEZ.
