Record results by a Dakar Rally team supported by Klaipeda FEZ

22 Jan 2019

Team Agrorodeo with Lithuanian drivers Vaidotas Žala and Saulius Jurgelėnas secured a record 12th place at the 10-stage Dakar Rally 2019 in Peru. Klaipeda FEZ is proud of being a part of this remarkable achievement and will welcome the drivers on its premises to share their experience later this spring.

Agrorodeo were 23rd after the first two stages of the rally but their persistence, flexibility, thorough preparation and speed helped them to climb a place or two after every stage that followed. So, the record 12th place, though a major achievement, didn’t come as a surprise. Last year, V. Žala and S. Jurgelėnas finished 18th in the prestigious desert and mountain rally.

“It is the second year Klaipeda FEZ is supporting the Agrorodeo team in their pursuit of conquering the unforgiving South American terrain. In fact, succeeding in a rally such as Dakar has many similarities with building a successful business in the current environment. You not only need but require to be quick, think strategically, plan, take calculated risks and communicate efficiently. Our investor community shared many similar experiences from their businesses when meeting the team last year. We will be more than happy to host V. Žala and S. Jurgelėnas on our premises later this year to discuss the strategy and tactics needed to achieve best results in an ever-changing environment,” Eimantas Kiudulas, the CEO of Klaipeda FEZ, said.

Vaidotas Žala suggested that his team carried an important mission in Dakar – to show  the way Lithuanians do business to the world, as well as to prove the potential of a small nation in both business and sports.

“Quickly, reliably and as a team. We thank Klaipeda FEZ for their support. It’s great to represent an organization that welcomes the world to the Lithuanian way of growing one’s business and shares same values of teamwork, openness, trust and creativity with us,” – V. Žala said.

A total of 100 cars (on top of 137 bikes, 26 quads, 41 trucks and 30 UTVs) have entered the Dakar Rally this year. Another team from Lithuania with Benediktas Vanagas and Sebastian Rozwandowski on board finished 11th.

Team Agrorodeo will meet the Klaipeda FEZ investor community on a date to be informed of on an individual notice.
