Artificial Intelligence to assist Klaipėda FEZ website visitors
The Klaipėda FEZ has implemented an AI-based chat assistant on its website, fez.lt, which can answer visitors’ questions in fluent English and Lithuanian. This initiative is part of Klaipėda FEZ’s ongoing strategy to attract investors and promote innovation.
Named “Klaipedette” (“Klaipėdė in Lithuanian), the assistant responds to inquiries related to Klaipėda FEZ by summarizing factual information or news available on the website.
The virtual assistant can answer nearly any question in smooth and coherent paragraphs, from historical and factual information to qualitative inquiries about the advantages or even problems of Klaipėda FEZ.
Interestingly, the technology does not rely on pre-prepared answers or templates but instead interprets questions and the website’s information. Therefore, the responses are limited only by the content available on the site. To ensure accurate information, the robot cannot respond to topics not covered on the FEZ page. However, it can handle unconventional questions like “What are the biggest problems of Klaipėda FEZ?” by analyzing the existing website texts.
According to Klaipėda FEZ’s Head of Marketing and Sales, Karolis Pilipauskas, investment decisions are made after numerous meetings and thorough analysis, so the robot alone won’t attract new investors. However, it is based on an intriguing and promising technology that addresses the problem of processing and systematizing information. Thus, “Klaipedette” can be a valuable tool for those interested in the Klaipėda FEZ and a small yet interesting practical example of innovation.
“In business, artificial intelligence is already applied in many areas: process automation, data and document analysis, security, and many others. Even for regular users, tools like ChatGPT are fundamentally rewriting the decades-old concept of information processing and search. So, perhaps our virtual assistant is not a revolution, but it is certainly an inspiring example of the possibilities businesses already have and how much more can be achieved by actively applying them. But we will be happy if this tool simply helps convey the information gathered over decades on the Klaipėda FEZ website more quickly and understandably to someone,” says K. Pilipauskas.
In the near future, Klaipėda FEZ plans to enable the virtual assistant to communicate by voice, which would be one of the first such functions among Lithuanian businesses.
This is not the first innovation Klaipėda FEZ has applied or added to its website. A few years ago, during the quarantine, Klaipėda FEZ offered a 3D model of the area, allowing detailed familiarization with plots, buildings, communications and other relevant development information. This model was the first of its kind among Lithuania’s free zones at the time. Even earlier, the site featured innovative panoramic 360-degree views of the area.
Over the past five years, Klaipėda FEZ has received several international awards and recognitions for its application of innovations, ranging from renewable energy development to 5G connectivity, smart traffic management and other systems.
