Evertis announces €30 million investment in new production plant in Lithuania

08 May 2025

Evertis, the world’s largest PET multilayer film supplier for the food and healthcare industries, today has signed an agreement with Klaipėda Free Economic Zone (FEZ) to build a new leading edge production plant in Klaipėda City, Lithuania. With an initial investment of €30 million, the new facility is planned to be completed over the next 3 years, and is expected to employ over 80 people.

The greenfield investment plans were officially announced today by Manuel Matos Gil, CEO and President of IMG Group and owner of Evertis, during his visit to Klaipėda. He met with Mayor Arvydas Vaitkus, Klaipėda city officials, Klaipėda FEZ CEO Eimantas Kiudulas, representatives of Invest Lithuania and potential business partners. Manuel Matos Gil also met with Minister of Economy and Innovation Lukas Savickas during the visit.

The new Evertis subsidiary, Evertis Lithuania, will manufacture sustainable PET film primarily for healthcare packaging, and will join the existing plastics and packaging cluster operating in the FEZ This includes sourcing raw materials from companies already based in the area. Evertis places a strong emphasis on sustainability, the use of recycled materials and drives innovation with the use of bio-based materials – all defined by circular economy principles and reducing its environmental footprint.

“This is truly another important milestone on our journey to deliver our packaging to the doorsteps of our customers and support the economic growth of the region together. I thank all parties involved in getting to this point in such a positive and productive manner at every stage. This investment in our global Group production footprint will enable us to offer shorter lead times, reduce supply chain risks, and better align with the increasing market demand for packaging solutions that prioritize circularity and environmental responsibility.” said Manuel Matos Gil, IMG Group President.

“We are pleased with the new investment and especially value the company’s focus on sustainability. I wish Evertis a successful start in Klaipėda and hope it opens up new growth opportunities both for the company and for the businesses already operating in the Klaipėda FEZ. New companies being established strengthen not only the city’s but also the entire region’s economic potential, which is why we are working purposefully to further increase Klaipėda’s attractiveness to investors,” said Klaipėda Mayor Arvydas Vaitkus.

“We negotiated this investment for about three years and had to compete with Poland as well as the government support package offered there. We are grateful to the teams at Klaipėda Municipality, Invest Lithuania and other institutions and partners, whose efforts helped us convince the investor that Lithuania’s offer would be more efficient,” said Klaipėda FEZ CEO Eimantas Kiudulas.

The Klaipėda FEZ location will allow Evertis to benefit from synergies with major PET producers that have been operating in the area for decades. For example, in 2023, Evertis announced a partnership with Thai polymer company Indorama Ventures to use recycled PET in the production of sustainable food packaging films. Indorama Ventures owns Orion Global PET, a major PET manufacturer based in Klaipėda FEZ.

Evertis is part of the IMG Group, a privately owned company with over 65 years in the polymers industry and a proven track record of leveraging their expertise and advanced technologies to deliver innovative solutions. This current announcement from the IMG Group follows a number of recent expansion and diversification strategies for the integrated Group. During 2024 the Group has seen existing asset expansion within its copolyester producing business, Selenis, at their plant in Fayetteville, NC, and the launch of the Evercare® and Selcare® brands to provide packaging solutions for the healthcare industry.
