New direct Klaipeda-US cargo service launched
From March 26, the Port of Klaipeda is connected with the US East Coast by a direct cargo service.
The weekly connection links Klaipeda, Gdynia (Poland), Gothenburg (Sweden), Bremerhaven (Germany), and New York, Philadelphia and Norfolk in the US. The service, operated by MSC, will take 15 days.
“We are successfully discovering new markets and compensating Eastern cargo. New opportunities are upon Lithuanian exporters and importers,” Algis Latakas, the director general at Klaipeda State Seaport Authority, says.
Two more MSC routes that include Klaipeda are currently in operation: the NWC TO ECUADOR and the NWC TO IPAK.
The port of Klaipeda is Lithuania’s sole sea gateway and an important partner of the Klaipeda FEZ business community.
