Klaipeda 2030 – ranked among the best city FDI promotion strategies at the emerging Europe awards

Klaipeda city’s economic development strategy Klaipeda 2030 has been nominated in the City FDI Promotion Strategy of the Year category at this year’s Emerging Europe Awards.

The economic development strategy was created, and is to be implemented, by a joint team consisting of specialists from Klaipeda City Municipality, Klaipeda Free Economic Zone, the Port of Klaipeda, Klaipeda University, the Association of Klaipeda’s Industrialists, Klaipeda Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts.

“When we introduced Klaipeda 2030 strategy, we received a lot of positive feedback from business, other cities and central government – as we are the first city to develop this kind of strategy in Lithuania. The fact that the initiative has been recognized abroad also means that we are on the right track,” – says the mayor of Klaipeda Vytautas Grubliauskas.

25.000 new jobs, 2.000 new companies, 1.5 billion EUR flow of FDI, 200 % increase in export, population growth of 40.000, double increase in salary and 400.000 tourists accommodated – that’s the economic ambition of Klaipeda by 2030.

The final winner in the City FDI promotion strategy of the year category will be revealed on June 22 at the Emerging Europe Awards Ceremony. Every year Emerging Europe Awards evaluate the best emerging European projects, initiatives, and share good practices among 23 European countries.
