Renewable energy of a different kind – Eimantas Kiudulas

28 Dec 2022

Dear colleagues and friends,

At the end of last year, I was happy to see that we are able to make strong decisions without hiding behind “difficult circumstances”. Within a couple of months though, the world turned upside down again: war, commodity, inflation, energy and other crises pushed aside all the pandemic challenges and emotions.

The Klaipėda FEZ business community was once again indifferent and united: you mobilised all your strength and resources, both to help others and to find solutions for yourselves. For me personally, one of the most noble moments of this year was the discussions between the representatives of the FEZ companies in the midst of the energy crisis. While in the short term everyone was concerned about electricity, even in such circumstances we remained true to our long-term strategic goals – talents, national and business competitiveness, sustainability and environment, innovation or quality of life.

Today, it is not easy for everyone to think in terms of decades, but it is the long-term view that leads to sustained success. After all, the whole world is in a difficult situation, so those who look and see a little further ahead are inherently exceptional.

I will briefly mention that existing and new companies in the Klaipėda FEZ have continued to expand and look for new opportunities: REHAU, Mestilla, Elme Metall, Lavango, Retal Baltic Films, Smart Box, Finegri, Dancer, Albright and others are clearly worth a mention. Also, rather coincidentally, at the very beginning of the year, we calculated that this year the installed solar capacity on our territory will double. I think we will have even more renewable energy projects next year.

“Renewable energy” is one of the things that comes to mind when I think about this year and 2023. Not just in terms of electricity or fuel, but in terms of the overall determination, enthusiasm and attitude of the FEZ business community. For almost 3 years now, new adversities have been coming and going, but each time you find more energy to act for the benefit of others, for the environment, for the country and for your own benefit. So I will wish you this kind of “renewable energy energy” for the coming year – there will be no shortage of challenges, but no doubt we will soon enjoy the solutions we have come up with to overcome them with this kind of “renewable energy”.

By the way, this year, many important occasions for us and for the FEZ companies have been pushed to the background – the 20th anniversaries of the management company and of some of the first investors, various local and international awards, record results and countless other achievements. But I return to my wish for “renewable energy” – with it, we will soon repeat and surpass it all.

Always yours,

Eimantas Kiudulas
